New music death match

Two major contemporary groups square off against each other starting tonight. Okay, okay, it’s really just that eighth blackbird plays tonight at the Harris Theater (capacity: 1,500), and the International Contemporary Ensemble (the only non-hip-hop group to go by ICE) plays at the downtown Museum of Contemporary Photography (capacity: How many chairs do you think we can get in here?).

Eighth blackbird is joined by the Hilliard Ensemble for an evening of Stephen Hartke, while ICE’s resident toy pianist and Concert Artists Guild-award winner Phyllis Chen presents a pile of music for her instrument of choice.
20 tickets at $10 will be available for eighth blackbird’s show at the box office between 6:00 and 7:00, with a start time of 7:30. ICE’s tickets are $10, showtime is 7:30.
