By any measure, this week was a success. Good things come in threes (and so do bad, but banish that thought for two minutes), so here they are:
1. CSO Resound is up for four Grammy Awards, including two for Best Orchestral Performance. Those are for the Scythian Suite, led by Alan Gilbert, and Bernard Haitink leading the band in Shostakovich’s Fourth Symphony. Go here and scroll until you think you can scroll no more.
2. Three CSO Resound albums made iTunes’ Best of 2008 list in the Classical category, and Shostakovich 5 with Myung-Whun Chung was among the Top 10 best-selling Classical Albums. Go here and select Classical from the music genres.
3. Shostakovich 4 made NPR’s Best of 2008 list.
Thank you for listening.
